EVOL theory of reflection
A need to present ourselves in a new global space was born with the advent of the Internet. Boundaries and limitations are blurring in the online world, combining opposites. Cultural contexts and different images are superimposed, forming a vivid multicultural collage.
EVOL is: an image of a baby in a ski mask with the logo of KidEight, a famous digital artist who has become incredibly popular on the Internet and the NFT sector. The picture has been copied in different styles by many artists around the world.
The collage technique used amplifies the feeling of endless image construction in global space. It demonstrates how contexts, symbols, and meanings overlap by the example of character, turning it into a simulacrum. A faceless hero in a mask, like a litmus paper, discovers different cultures. This work records the process of perception of an image through subjective optics.
Sergiy Yakimenko
Sergiy was born in 1987, lives and works in Kharkiv. He works with painting, digital illustration, video art, graffiti. Artistic creativity is based on a compilation of different cultures in the style of pop art. Сompositional approach combines comics, graffiti, and anime, with themes of the personal depicted by encrypted symbols of their own visual language.
